About MiniDiscToday

Custom Minidisc UV printing and other MD trinkets. Lover of all things minidisc. Restarted my minidisc journey in 2020 after a gap of about 20 years. First action was to buy the minidisc player model I had over 20 years ago (Sharp MD-MS100). After that my MD device collection has been growing steadily and now own over 200 portable devices and about 10 mini audio sets. Going back to MD it also made me rebuild my audio collection (then on vinyl) but now on MD. After spending money on label printers, I never was really satisfied with the outcome. This made me decide to look for other options to make MD closer to the vinyl album covers from the time of physical media. What I ended up with was a beast (and $$$) of a UV printer being able to print directly on the MD media. This required learning new skills but after much experimenting I’m happy with the outcome and have been fortunate to be able to recreate many of my favourite vinyl records on MD. And having many portable MD players I ran into the same issues as most of my fellow MD nerds related to batteries. I have been working on some options (mostly using USB C) for either in device charging or to allow using a USB C power bank (we all carry today) for hours and hours of MD playback joy. I will soon be sharing these new and exciting new options will all my other fellow MD nerds.
